If you haven’t seen it. Here it is.
— Scott Frost (@coach_frost) June 20, 2019
The reactions on twitter were similar to my initial reaction. Not only would I run through a wall for Scott Frost after watching that video, I think we are probably going undefeated next year and winning a national championship.
It is a great video.
Then I am reminded that Nebraska won four games last year and the maybe we should try and just contend for the division this year instead. Maybe.
That’s okay. I realize that fact and I understand it. However, I prefer the feeling of thinking we are going to win a national championship.
So I’ll just go watch it again.
Weekend Trip To Vegas - Looking for Recommendations
The wife and I are heading to Vegas in a few weeks for a wedding. We staying at a place on the strip (I think?).
The wife and I aren’t really gamblers and couldn’t care less about clubs. We actually prefer a dive bar atmosphere compared to some nice $15 a drink, type of bar.
Also, we enjoy good food. So if anybody has recommendations for food and drinks we would love to hear them.
I am particularly interested in late night food, because of course.

Gratitude for You All
I still remember driving home with some friends after a weekend trip to Chicago. At that time I had been an attorney for three or four years. I asked my friends that if they could go back in time and start back at the point after graduating from high school, would they have gone into something different.
One friend is a psychologist. One works for a metal scrapping/recycling company. One is a doctor.
I believe two were happy with what they were doing, while one responded he wished he was doing something else.
However, I remember my answer. If I could go back in time I would have gone to school to be a sports journalist. I wanted to write about sports and I wanted people to read it. Little did I know that the opportunity fell into my lap with Corn Nation.
So while I am not a sports journalist and am in no way on the level of the real professionals that write for the various publications around this state that cover Nebraska sports, I still get to remind myself that people read what I write.
For that I am thankful.
I have been here for two years now and have written some idiotic things like the following, from 2017:
After two seasons at Nebraska, Mike Riley fired one of his best friends. Riley realized Mark Banker was not good enough to be the defensive coordinator at Nebraska. So Riley goes out and hires Bob Diaco. If given the opportunity, we could have a top flight defense in the next couple of years.
I have also written a fictional Halloween story about the ghosts of Tom Osborne and Bob Devaney haunting Scott Frost, which was not read by many people, but was still read by some. I really enjoyed writing that piece, regardless of if it was any good.
I have written the Five Reasons Why Nebraska Will Win for the past two seasons, and loved hearing from the lovely opposing fans for how stupid I am and how horrible Nebraska was at that time. Usually, they would wait until after the game. This was especially true for Oregon fans.
Over the past few weeks I have felt particularly stretched. My wife noticed.
I ended up writing down a list of my “obligations.” Starting with 1. Faith, 2. Husband, 3. Father, 4. Lawyer....and the list went on and on. I ended with a list of 15 “obligations” or “hats that I wear.” There are obviously “sub-obligations” to each obligation, but I felt that 15 was too big of a number.
So after making the list I wrote down next to each obligation whether I need to consider ending that particular obligation. Some are nonnegotiable like the ones I listed. Others are definitely negotiable.
Back to that conversation with my friends on the way back from Chicago. So while I am still in the same profession, I do however get to write about sports and people actually read it.
So for those of you who read the stuff I write, I am eternally thankful.

Why are Nike trainers washing up on beaches? - BBC News
In September 2018, on Flores Island, in the remote Atlantic archipelago of the Azores, Gui Ribeiro began noticing strange items washing ashore.
At first they appeared in small numbers and could be dismissed as ordinary artefacts lost by individuals - mere flotsam among the churn of man-made waste that inhabits the world's oceans.
Soon, though, it became clear these Azorean arrivals were part of a greater group.
Can Zion Williamson Win Over New Orleans? - The Ringer
The Duke phenom is one of the biggest celebrities in college basketball history, but fitting in with the NBA’s most singular market hasn’t always been as easy as the city’s pace of life. Is ‘Space Jam 2’ a Way for LeBron James to Skirt the Salary Cap? - The Ringer
In the real world, LeBron James’s dream of building another superteam has hit a snag. Yes, the Lakers did swing a trade to pair James with Anthony Davis, giving him a running partner as he tries to win an NBA title with a third franchise. But on Wednesday, it was reported that Lakers brass apparently had failed to realize that the trade would not leave enough salary cap space for the team to sign a third star.

10 teams who aren't recruiting like they usually do
The middle of June has quickly become one of the most active portions of the recruiting calendar.
Schools hold camps and junior days post-evaluation period, a time in which a number of offers go out and some real recruiting pushes occur. It’s also a tine to squeeze in official visits before the dead period begins on June 22. As a result, we’ve seen numerous late-spring and early-summer commitments occur over the last month or so.
Thus, the 2020 class rankings are starting to take shape.

The Growing Science Behind a Fasting Treatment for Alzheimer's - The Crux
When it comes to medical diagnoses, Alzheimer’s is a grim one. Those who develop the disease, which causes ever-worsening memory and behavioral problems, don’t have many treatment options. There are a handful of drugs that can ease symptoms, but none of them slow down the disease’s progression or offer a cure. But one approach, outside the realm of drugs and medications, is quickly showing some strong potential for treatment — fasting.
No, Black Holes Don't Suck Everything Into Them
There are no classes of object in our Universe more extreme than black holes. With so much mass present in such a tiny volume of space, they create a region around them where the curvature of space is so strong that nothing — not even light — can escape from its gravity once a certain boundary is crossed. That boundary is known as the event horizon, and anything from outside the event horizon that crosses inside will never get out.
The Components of Pain: A Renewed Perspective Towards Pain - The Good Men Project
It is amazing how we wrongly brand and interpret pain. The worst form of pain is actually a pain that is misinterpreted. The one most important thing about pain is that it demands not only to be felt but also to be well interpreted. Walter Anderson said, “Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have – life itself.”
Why Is There No Religion In ‘The Lord of the Rings’?
If The Lord of the Rings is “fundamentally religious and Catholic,” why are there no religious institutions or rituals?
Tolkien famously described The Lord of the Rings, as “a fundamentally religious and Catholic work.” But it’s true that there is virtually no sign of religious behavior or institutions.
