Great news from the land of toxic waste!

Travis Vokolek, sophomore tight end formerly of Rutger, has announced his transfer to the Nebraska Cornhuskers! 6-6 240lb Vokolek was a three star out of high school. Once his intention to transfer was announced, he was heavily courted by Nebraska, Kansas State and Iowa. Say what you want, Iowa knows their tight ends. Their recruitment of him is a big upcheck in my mind.

Travis has some Nebraska roots. His father grew up in Lincoln and played linebacker at Kearney State College. D.J. Vokolek was an assistant in Buffalo with Lance Liepold, but has taken a position at Northern Iowa (birthplace of Husker football coaches). This was a significant factor in Travis’ transfer request, along not wanting to be in New Jersey.

The Garden State

Vokolek started seven games as a sophomore last season for the Rutger, catching 16 passes for 184 yards. He had solid games against Michigan State and Illinois, with multiple receptions in each of these games. He is a 3-for-2 player who will be sitting out next season unless he gets on of the waivers the NCAA seems to be handing out like candy these days.

Welcome to the Husker family, Travis! GBR!
