The Nebraska baseball team kicks off postseason play tonight when they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The fifth seeded Huskers face off against the fourth seeded Gophers for the fourth time this season after Minnesota won a three game series in Minneapolis earlier this season.
Nebraska will send Matt Waldron to the mound to face off against Minnesota. The Gophers will send Patrick Fredrickson to face the Huskers.
Minnesota will be without their ace in Max Meyer. Meyer, who is dealing with an ankle injury will not pitch tonight. That leaves the Gophers to send out Fredrickson who has struggled in his sophomore season.
The 2018 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year has struggled this season. He pitched only 3.2 innings against the Huskers in Minneapolis, picking up the loss. He has only two wins on the year, with one being in relief.
Nebraska will look to win this game to set up a winners bracket contest with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa upset Indiana 4-1 earlier tonight. The Hawkeyes got a three run seventh inning which proved to be the difference.
If the Huskers defeat Minnesota, Nebraska would meet Iowa tomorrow night at 9 p.m. If the Huskers lose tonight, Nebraska and Indiana play in an elimination game tomorrow at 1 p.m.
