Maryland upsets Illinois in early action

We have baseball! It is a windy day in Omaha as the Big Ten Tournament gets underway. In early action, Maryland upset Illinois by a final score of 6-2. Michigan and Ohio State are set for first pitch at 1:11.

Hunter Parsons went 7.1 innings, allowing only one run while scattering four hits for the Terrapins. Maryland broke open the game with a pair of home runs in the eight inning. Both Marty Costes and Jared Vogt had two run home runs in the eighth inning.

After the Wolverines and Buckeyes finish, Indiana plays Iowa in the first part of the evening doubleheader. Then for the nightcap, Nebraska and Minnesota will tangle for the fourth time this season.

Nebraska should be rooting for Indiana to advance to the winner’s bracket tomorrow night. A game against the Big Ten regular season champions would give Nebraska a chance to improve their RPI while also picking up another marquee win.
