Nebraska Football: Grad Transfer Wide Receiver Kanawai Noa is a Husker!

Speedster receiver from Cal fills critical manning shortfall

Great news from the land of earthquakes!

Kanawai Noa is a former three star wide receiver and grad transfer from Cal. He has decided to transfer to the Cornhuskers!

One of the big questions on offense for the upcoming season was, “Who is going to replace the production of Stanley Morgan, the most prolific receiver in Nebraska football history?” The JUCO transfers last season did not produce. No freshman stood out, except for possibly walk-on Kade Warner. Hybrid receiver/running back Maurice Washington is dealing with legal issues. Well, a potential answer to that question came this afternoon.

Noa was originally signed by Sonny Dykes, who is no longer the coach at Cal. Kanawai is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii. Noa was quite productive his sophomore season, racking up 788 yards in 56 catches. He was widely regarded as the go-to third down target by Cal quarterbacks. Current Cal coach Justin Wilcox described him as “fearless” and “clutch”, two good words to be described as. Unfortunately, his career has also been marked by injury. Hopefully the strength and conditioning program at Nebraska will mitigate this potential pitfall.

There’s no tie-in for this, but one should include a clip from South Pacific whenever the opportunity presents itself:

Welcome to the Husker family, Kanawai! GBR!
