The Nebraska baseball team (17-10, 7-2 Big Ten) travels to Penn State (17-12, 1-7 Big Ten) for another weekend of Big Ten play. The Huskers and Nittany Lions were originally scheduled for a three day series, but weather has forced a doubleheader for tomorrow.
The marquee match up takes place this afternoon on the mound. Nebraska will send Matt Waldron to the mound to face off against Dante Biasi. Waldron is undefeated on the season, while Biasi has allowed only one earned run in his last 18.1 innings.
Nebraska should be looking to get the bad taste of their first home defeat out of their mouth. Expect the Husker offense to put the pressure on the Nittany Lions defense this weekend. Penn State has committed 51 errors on the season, leading to 28 unearned runs.
Bailey Dees and Eric Mock round out the Penn State weekend starters. Dees and Mock average over a strikeout per inning. Penn State and Nebraska both have team ERA’s of 4.07.
The Penn State offense has struggled in 2019. Penn State is averaging 4.72 runs per game, ranking 255th in the country. Nebraska is tied for 130th, having played in only 27 games.
Jordan Bowersox is the only Penn State hitter with a batting average over .300. Bowersox hits .327 with a pair of home runs and five doubles. Outside of Bowersox, no Penn State hitter bats better than .265.
Nebraska will have fond memories of their journey to Penn State. Last time Nebraska traveled to Penn State, the Huskers clinched the Big Ten regular season title during the 2017 season.
