‘Crootin Kernels: Spring Game Visit Preview

Update on Nebraska recruiting news!

Crootin

Hello and welcome! The Spring Game is coming up this weekend, and that makes it a key opportunity to showcase the university to key recruits! Here’s a list of the top prospects that have confirmed visits this weekend. Hopefully the bomb cyclone relents and the weekend is salvageable.

Junior College Prospects

Jahkeem Green is a four star nose tackle from Highland C.C. He visited unofficially a couple of weeks ago. This is his official visit. He is a former South Carolina commit who didn’t qualify academically. I lived in South Carolina. How does someone not qualify academically? They’re 49th in the country!

2020 High School Prospects

Kevon Billingsley is a four star offensive lineman from St. Louis. He has offers from Alabama on down. He was supposed to visit for Junior Day, then it was pushed to the Spring Game, now it’s rumored just sometime in the spring. St. Louis remains impermeable.

Xavier Watts, Omaha’s own son and the only other in-state offer will be attending.

Logan Loya is a four star wide receiver out of California. He’s not that tall, his stats aren’t that great, but most of the PAC-12 has offered him.

Tommy Christakos is a tight end prospect from Scottsdale, AZ. No word on whether he has a dog that can fetch beer bottles like last year’s Arizona prospect.

Blaise Gunnerson is a three star defensive end from Carroll, IA. He’s a heavy Iowa State lean.

Malik Reed is an outside linebacker prospect from Chandler, AZ. You know he is a great linebacker, because his profile picture looks like a mugshot and he’s being recruited heavily by Wisconsin. Things are looking like they’re going UCLA’s way here.

Christopher Townsel is a defensive back from Florida. He’s got some length at 6-2. His 40 is listed at a verified 4.71. We’re about his best offer.

Turner Corcoran, behemoth offensive tackle, will be visiting yet again. I like our chances here.

Jamar Sekona is a four star defensive tackle from Greenbrae, CA. He has a respectable offer list. This young man has a very strong relationship with Coach Tuioti. He was a Cal lean until Coach T took the job in Lincoln. If this weekend goes well, there could be good news here.

There are many other visitors without offers coming as well. If any offers get made over the weekend, I’ll get that information out right away. Jakheem Green has a few classes to wrap up before he can commit. I don’t see any other commitments happening this weekend. There will be a lot of groundwork laid, however. This coaching staff has been quite successful at playing the long game. This is a quality group of visitors. GBR!
