Preview
Wisconsin is big, talented, and slow. I mean that in the good Wisconsin way that they like. It’s been their calling card for years now and they have not deviated from it. I wouldn’t expect a high scoring game as neither team moves down the court quickly and both focus on defense. I joke that the final score will be in the 40’s, but that could very well happen.
Ethan Happ is the big man and main threat for the Badgers. He only had 10 points against the Huskers in January but is averaging 17.8 points on the year. He leads the team in scoring along with just about ever other category. Assists, he averages 4.7. Steals, 1.1 per game and of course he is pulling down 10.4 rebounds. He is being beat by forward Nate Reuvers with 1.9 per game. He was named first team All Big Ten by the the coaches and media.
Also of note is D’Mitrik Trice. The sophomore guard is averaging 11.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest. he only had 8 points against Nebraska but can easily get into the double digits if left alone.
Prediction
Wisconsin is a good but not great team. They can take control of a game with their pace and frustrate teams the like to go at a quicker pace. Nebraska did a decent job against them in January with a depleted squad. Well, now Nebraska is even more depleted and has two days of playing on their legs.
Right now, I can see this game going either way. If Nebraska can keep the energy from the Maryland win, I like their chances but with only 7 guys playing it might be hard to keep up the entire game. But, like I stated above, Wisconsin likes to move at a slower pace than most squads so that could be in Nebraska’s favor.
