Nebraska Sends Eight Wrestlers To NCAA Tournament

Eight is the most since 2016

Jon Johnston

Nebraska will send eight wrestlers to the NCAA Tournament after it was announced that redshirt senior Zeke Moisey earned an at-large bid. Moisey was injured in this past weekend’s Big Ten tournament and failed to place within the top nine wrestlers that would have guaranteed him an automatic bid. 125 pound Moisey was a two-time All-American at West Virginia before transferring to Nebraska.

Chad Red (141), Tyler Berger (157), Isaiah White (165), Mikey Labriola (174), Taylor Venz (184), Eric Schultz (197) and heavyweight David Jensen (285) clinched automatic bids with their performances at the Big Ten Championships this past weekend.

The 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships will be held March 21-23 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.

There will be 33 wrestlers in each weight class. They will be seeded and the brackets will be revealed tomorrow at 6 pm. We’ll be sure to get those brackets out after they’re posted because, what the hell, let’s follow wrestling until it’s done this season.

This is the first year since 2016 that Nebraska has sent eight wrestlers to the NCAA tournament.
