The Husker men’s indoor track and field team brought home a conference title this past week. Head Coach Gary Pepin earned Big Ten Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career. The Huskers edged Indiana last weekend to claim their third Big Ten indoor title and first since back-to-back victories in 2015 and 2016. Congratulations Huskers and Coach!

Now that the indoor track season is coming to a close...looks outside...well, maybe they will be running indoors for a while longer yet. In Jon’s Frosted Flakes yesterday, he mentioned the changes in the Husker baseball schedule because of the weather. More specifically, it is because of snow. We have several inches on the ground and people to the north and south of us have it worse.

We have one spot on the ranch where the snow drifts are over the fences. The snow is so hard that the cattle can walk over the fence. I spent the better chunk of a day building a temporary electric fence in freakin’ snow drifts! Seriously, I’m over winter. Take me straight to days where everyone is complaining about the heat.

Looking ahead on the weather forecast, I don’t see any days ABOVE freezing until we get past mid-March. Arggghhh!

Six teams are vying for No. 1 seeds. UConn will be in Albany. Five mid-majors are locks. But will Louisville or Notre Dame end up in Chicago?

I’ve tried to be diplomatic when it comes to the state of Nebraska women’s basketball, but both teams in the state to our north are likely headed for the NCAA tournament without the benefit of two top 20 recruiting classes in a row. Nebraska needs to step up its game - literally.
