After previewing the first series of the year, it is time for the Huskers to take the field. Nebraska and the University of California Riverside kickoff the 2019 season with a four game series this weekend.
Tonight’s pitching duel features Chad Luensmann returning from Tommy John surgery going up against junior college transfer Hayden Petrovick. Luensmann will be on a 50-70 pitch limit while Petrovick moves up in competition from last season.
Behind Luensmann, Head Coach Darin Erstad will have options out of the bullpen including Matt Waldron, a starter from last season.
The Huskers and Riverside are set for first pitch at 6 p.m. local time, with rain in the forecast for Riverside. The last time the Huskers and Highlanders were set for a four game series, rain forced the cancellation of two of the contests in Tempe, Arizona.
