Today I sit in Mexico City ready to ring in the New Year in this amazing city for the second year in a row. This year I will be celebrating it with my brother. I’ve been here since Friday and have had a great time as per usual and can’t wait to see what this evening’s festivities will hold.
I decided to make this flakes a special one and share many features, articles and lists highlighting the best of the past decade and past year. Check them all out and agree, disagree, brawl about the choices in the comment sections below.
I would also love to read about everyone’s top personal highlights were from the past decade. My highlights of the 2010s were graduating from the University of Nebraska in 2013, attending two matches at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and visiting the famous Machu Picchu archaeological site in 2019.
Anyways...onto Flakes! See you next decade!
The past 10 years have been a brilliant stretch for the sports world, with underdog champions, ever-lasting dynasties, and late drama in title games and title fights. It’d be impossible to recap the entire decade in sports in one post, but we tried our best.
With the decade drawing to a close, The Score looked back and voted on 100 moments that defined the sports world in the 2010s.
Fans were treated to many thrilling match ups on Saturdays over the last 10 years, but there are a few games that stand out above the rest. Because of a combination of the teams involved, the stakes, and the magical moments they produced, 10 games stand out as the best of the best in the last decade.
Thirty-five members of the USA TODAY Sports staff voted to determine the top 50 athletes of the decade. Points were given in descending order, so an athlete who was voted No. 1 received 25 points, followed by No. 2 receiving 24 points and so on.
The list was voted on by more than just our film critics: the entire editorial staff of Den of Geek in all sections cast ballots for their 100 favorite movies of the decade. That has clearly led to some populist picks, but also some more obscure and intriguing ones. So raise a glass and join us at saluting the 2010s at the movies.
The sheer number of great shows released this decade made compiling a “best of” list nearly impossible. Conversations got heated and feelings got hurt. But every show on this list is unimpeachable, and we’re proud to share it with you. It’s a diverse list that hopefully touches on everything that made this a decade of TV great.
To properly tell the stories of these 100 songs, we enlisted help from the creators and experts who know them best. We interviewed hundreds of artists, writers, producers, label execs, critical authorities and industry gatekeepers to get their enduring memories about these songs and their legacies.
As the 2010s come to an end, we can look back on an era rife with discovery. In the past 10 years, scientists around the world made remarkable progress toward understanding the human body, our planet, and the cosmos that surrounds us.
When people look back on this arbitrary demarcation of years, these will be the restaurants that bring time-specific memories flooding back.
We considered traits like audacity, innovation, disruption, and social responsibility. We also called out several entrepreneurs whose work has influenced and supported other founders. This list--which is in no particular order--could have been 10 times as long and still left off many amazing people.
From the wrongfully accused to a new kind of tool that could change cold-case investigations forever, the 2010s made us question who we really think is guilty
In the past 10 years alone, our photographers have taken 21,613,329 images in the quest to document life on this planet for our print and digital platforms. More than 21.6 million images! That’s an amazing number—and a bit terrifying if you try to narrow it down to some kind of “best” or “favorites” list.
Every image is iconic in its own merit, and they are sometimes taken by photojournalists in harm’s way. Each photo is memorable, permanently capturing a moment in history, searing its significance and its oddity in our consciousness, oftentimes shaping public opinion and affecting policy. We present to you the defining photos of the past decade.
The truth is, 193 years after the first known permanent photograph was made, a single image can be any number of things. In our annual unranked selection, we’re going with 100.
In 2019, music videos seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at once. Turn on the TV, log in to a streaming platform, open up your social media feeds: Rapid-fire, music-fueled visuals bombarded us from all sides. But with everything from album teasers to TikTok competing for attention, it was harder than ever for traditional music videos to cut through the fray.
It was another banner year in board gaming, with a thousand or so more titles hitting the market, old favorites coming back into print, more roll-and-write games than anyone ever really needed, and the biggest breakout board game hit we’ve had in years. But I have played a lot of games. Here are my favorites from 2019.
As we enter 2020 and a new decade, we’ve taken a look back at the ten major changes that have changed the way we explore the world.
The result is a list of must-visit vacation destinations, and with something to suit every interest — food, shopping, culture, history, and nature — one is bound to spark your wanderlust.
In 2019 promises of seamless air travel and stress-free flying seemed more elusive than ever. Airport delays escalated over the summer as the prolonged grounding of the Boeing 737 Max and air industry labor disputes took their toll.
