Nebraska Recruiting: Defensive Lineman Pheldarius Payne is N!

JUCO DE and Pass Rushing Threat Flips from NC State

#All’N

Great news from the Electric City!

Start blowing up air mattresses, because the house is getting crowded! Pheldarius Payne, 6-3 270lb three star defensive lineman from Scranton, Pennsylvania has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers! Pheldarius, who is a first-teamer on the all-name team, is a JUCO product from Lackawanna Community College. He was a full qualifier out of high school, so is a 4-for-3 player. Having been a commit with NC State since July, is was surprising when he took an official visit to Lincoln, and a big shock Monday when he decommitted after his official visit to NC State. Things move fast with JUCO recruiting, and today he announced his commitment to the Huskers.

I know I’ve said it before, but let me just say it again: defensive lineman highlights are the best highlights. There were a lot of quarterbacks taking ice baths after this video. With 4.9 speed, Pheldarius can get in the backfield in a hurry. With several refined techniques at is disposal, he is nearly unblockable. He took his JUCO team to the national championship game this season, where he forced a fumble and ran it back for a touchdown. Suh, anyone??? He plays with an edge, and doesn’t stop until the second whistle. He can chase down running backs, and throw them backwards, it was pretty awesome. I only wish he would tackle lower, I’m pretty sure he got called for horse collar on one tackle in his highlight film. But a tough, fast, technically sound defensive lineman who has played in a true 3-4? You just have to like it.

Welcome to the Husker family, Pheldarius! GBR!
