Jimari Butler, 6-5 215lb three star outside linebacker from Mobile, Alabama has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers! Originally a Tennessee commit, he reopened his recruitment after a couple more official visits, having realized he had acted prematurely. Jimari had offers from many Power Five conference schools, but narrowed it down to a top two of TCU and Nebraska. Today he made things official with a public announcement.
Jimari has lots of potential. Remarkably, he has focused on football only this past season, previously considering basketball his primary sport. He has a long, lean frame that can easily add 30 pounds without sacrificing quickness. He has a great initial burst off the edge to get past the initial offensive lineman, and enough motor to chase down the play from the back side. Although 6-5, he doesn’t play “tall” at the line of scrimmage. He can get under the blocker and stretch him out before shedding him and pursuing the ball carrier. I’m really liking what Jimari brings to the table. Enough speed to rush the passer, and enough strength to seal the edge, and Nebraska is hurting for both of these things.

Nebraska has done really well in Alabama with the new coaching staff. With the commitment of Butler, JUCO Niko Cooper and a very strong possibility of signing four-star Kaden Johnson on Wednesday, along with Keyshawn Greene and Eteva Mauga-Clements to add athleticism on the inside, the coaches have really changed the look of the linebacker room in one recruiting class. Welcome to the Husker family, Jamari! GBR!
