Let us not forget the last ten years of bowl games for Nebraska. We have not been in a bowl game since we went 5-7, cheated the bowl system, and barely beat UCLA in 2015. The bowl win before that was the ninety-nine yard throw from Tommy Armstrong against Georgia to win in 2013, which was the year he took over for Taylor Armstrong at quarterback. The last dominate bowl win was against Arizona in 2009 where our defense blanked them 33-0. We’ve gone two straight years without even going to a bowl game for the first time 1967-1968 seasons under Bob Devaney. Our recent bowl history is something we should really look at and see how bad we’ve been and will probably continue to be.
Jumping to conclusions of nine wins after breaking our 50 year bowl game streak of not missing two in a row was mistaken. We are a ways off from being competitive at a high level.
Get to a bowl game and get better for next year.
