Week 7 Cobs: Overtime Drama

Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

Another week of crazy bloopers, upsets and depressing losses in Week 7 of college football. Let’s check out football this week’s cob nominations.

Texas Tech Running Back Sarodorick Thompson

Butt Fumble. That is all.

Georgia-South Carolina overtime

Terrible offensive play and two missed field goals including Rodrigo Blankenship’s 42-yard miss which handed the Gamecocks a victory.

Vanderbilt

UNLV is a bad football team. Things didn’t look promising after they gave up a touchdown on their opening drive to Vanderbilt (who were 15 point favorites), Except the Dores didn’t score a touchdown after that and the Runnin’ Rebels ran away with a 34-10 victory in Nashville. Bad week for the SEC. Good week for the Mountain West.

Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons racked up 40(!) first downs and 668 total yards but some costly turnovers and special teams mistakes led to a 62-59 loss to Louisville (the second-highest scoring game in ACC history).

Nebraska

The Huskers (especially the run defense) straight up played awful on Saturday. I think most of us expected a loss but didn’t expect the performance to be this bad.

There were plenty of cob nominations in Week 7 of the College Football Season but unfortunately you can only pick one.
