Devine Ozigbo is Getting Noticed at East West Shrine Football Game Practices

The Husker running back is turning heads as he prepares to play in Saturday’s all-star game

NCAA Football: Michigan State at Nebraska Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Husker running back Devine Ozigbo is one of 100 college football players that get a chance to work up close with NFL coaches this week. Ozigbo is part of the “West” roster for the all-star game and sporting the familiar #22.

Nebraska’s workhorse this season, Ozigbo seemingly came out of nowhere (even for Husker fans) to claim a stranglehold on the #1 spot on the backfield. He was the first to rush for over 1000 yards since Ameer Abdullah. He did that without fumbling even ONCE this entire season. Compared to past seasons for Nebraska, he showed a noticeable improvement in his ability to break away for long runs.

He became a fan favorite among Husker faithful who started to wonder aloud if this once-anonymous back might have a chance to be drafted this spring.

It comes as no surprise, but those outside of Nebraska are taking notice of #22 and wondering the same. Below are a few tweets and links about the former Husker.

The Shrine Game will be played on Saturday January 29, 2019 at 2 pm central. It will be broadcast on the NFL Network.

Nebraska RB Devine Ozigbo continues to be one of my favorite sleeper prospects in this year’s class. Today, Ozigbo performed better in team drills and looked ever so smooth in the bag drills.

We will have a game thread on Saturday, probably combined with whichever basketball games are happening that day too.
