Great news from Alabamy!
After a 13 hour road trip with the family and a whole day on campus with the coaching staff, I am extremely blessed to announce I am COMMITTED to the University of Nebraska! @coach_frost @Coach_Verdu @CoachChinander @HuskerFBNation #GBR #2020visioN pic.twitter.com/BPqf5MtWFL

Logan Smothers, 6-2 180lb three star dual threat quarterback from Athens, AL has committed to the Cornhuskers! Smothers, 19th ranked dual threat quarterback in the 2020 class, has been high on Nebraska ever since he received their offer. He unofficially visited in June, and came back this weekend with his family. After getting positive feedback from the fam, he committed on the spot.
Smothers’ offer list is light, to put it bluntly. Very light. He started his freshman and sophomore seasons at his high school, putting up big numbers both seasons. He has had contact with SEC coaches, and camped at Ohio State this summer, but has no big time offers yet. I watched a little highlight film, and he looks athletic and shifty when running, and his release looked quick to me, but I’m no QB evaluator. He is also a track star, something we’ve heard about Frost recruits before. He’s ran a 11.01 100m, 7.28 60m, and 4.48 40. So he’s got the speed. This is another early evaluation where Verduzco and Frost liked the kid, liked his measurables, liked his film, so they didn’t worry about his stars or offer list. Let’s see how his recruiting rankings change after the fall season.
