Big Ten Media Days - Scott Frost Speaks! People Listen!

New, 223 comments

Scott Frost was the first coach to the podium in Chicago. That’s because he is just that much faster than everyone else.

Jon Johnston

Big Ten Media Days got underway with a short press conference by commissioner Jim Delaney. Immediately after that our favorite new Husker head coach was the first coach to take the stand...I mean podium.

Enthusiasm...understatement of the year!

My secret decoder ring indicates that what he really was saying was “Hurry up Nebraska and get your crap together so I don’t have to answer this imbalanced divisions question every year.”

Jim Delany said that players should be allowed to go to pro sports immediately, straight out of high school.

I think kids these days wear weird shit, but this is coming from a guy with no fashion sense whatsoever. Stan looks really skinny and small in this photo. That’s okay. They don’t know what’s coming.

Scott Frost took about a minute on his opening statement. He said this bit above as quoted by Sam, but let’s go back to Frost the fast. FAST - That’s what the man is, FAST.

This will be the theme for the season. FAST FAST FAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FASTFAST FAST

One thing I thought was interesting was that Coach Frost said that his entire coaching staff was in on the decision to come to Nebraska. It wasn’t just his decision and he hoped everyone would follow him. They discussed it as a group.

Coach emphasized this point. The quarterbacks in his system have to be able to process information quickly. I’m paraphrasing here, but he said something to the effect of “All the quarterbacks we’ve had that are successful have that trait.”

I didn’t write it down, but remember hearing “recruit kids who are hungry”, “unity”, “caring about each other”, “doing what’s best for the team”....I’m sure there are more coachspeak platitudes I missed, but he hit the high notes.

He had a long list of things he said he was trying to change and added that it can be challenging, as a head coach, to realize that he can’t change everything immediately.

Scott Frost’s definition of success (he gets extra credit for reciting from the Husker prayer) is getting better. “Day by day, we’re going to get better.”

On rivalries...”rivalries are going to come when we’re playing the way we should.”

We need to establish Team Gebbia and Team Martinez and go from there. It could be fun. We could have t-shirts.

We need this because media people don’t know what to do when everyone is in agreement so we must foment separation.

So... I’m sure this makes everyone feel better about Ron Brown.

Awwww, thanks Coach.
