Five Course Italian Wedding Feast
Derek Peterson, of Hail Varsity, wrote an article about the “ACT of football” test that Quarterbacks Coach Verduzco has all of his quarterbacks take throughout the year. Then after the test is over, which can take four hours, he cooks them a “Five Italian Course Wedding Feast.”
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be a quarterback for the University of Nebraska more than I do right now. No wonder Christian McCaffery’s brother committed here. We have an ace in the hole, and that is Coach Verduzco and his cooking.
Wouldn’t that be the greatest pitch to a prospective quarterback recruit? “We have great facilities, one of the hottest head coaches in the country (won like every award last year), a fan base that has sold out every game since 1877, a weight room with a picture of Suh on it, and a great quarterback coach, who happens to be Italian, that will feed you a five course Italian wedding feast after taking a test on football.”
I’m sold. Where are the forks?
Cross Examination of Corn Nation’s Contributors
In case you haven’t heard yet, the Five-Heart Podcast has been “cross examining” those of us who write for Corn Nation over the past several weeks. The first week Hooch and Hoss interviewed Jill Heemstra. The second week they took a shot at Paul Dalen, and last week it was Husker Mike’s turn.
Well this week it was my shot at the “Corn Nation Cross-Examination.” We talked about where I grew up, my favorite Nebraska football players, favorite memories and favorite sports movies. Then when the pressure was on for me to say my line at the end of the podcast I screwed it up. Should be funny to hear.
I’ve enjoyed listening to these episodes because I’ve gotten to know more about Jill, Paul and Mike and it really provides context to their writing. I suggest everybody taken a listen, even if it isn’t to the episode about me.
This is my first ever time being interviewed on a podcast so please be kind. Or don’t. Do what you do.

Reds And Rockies Decide To Suck All At Once
Baseball presents its players with infinite ways in which to humiliate themselves, and they often do. But rare is the occasion on which we are given the tasty treat of multiple baseball players embarrassing themselves on the very same play. Take it away, Reds and Rockies:
Famed two-sport athlete Bo Jackson offers his advice to Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray
If Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray wasn’t already a player to watch in 2018, he is now. The expected successor to Baker Mayfield was drafted surprisingly high at No. 9 by the Oakland Athletics on Monday evening during the MLB Draft.
If anyone knows about playing baseball and football at a high level, it’s Bo Jackson. Speaking with MLB Network on Tuesday during the draft, Jackson offered a piece of advice to Murray: find your sport and concentrate on it.

Has US physics lab found a new particle?
There was jubilation when the Higgs boson particle was detected at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2012.
But since then, the major new discoveries in physics that the LHC was predicted to make have failed to materialise.
So there has been a considerable buzz around a report that the MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab in the US may have found hints of a new particle.

Sad, Sad Day: Anthony Bourdain dead at 61 years of age
To me personally, this hits home a lot like the deaths of both Robin Williams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. His shows took you around the world and introduced you to cuisines that you would likely never try. He has motivated me to go outside my comfort zone when trying new foods.
You could always tell that he likely had some serious demons in his life that he was continually battling. That made him relatable on several levels.
He really appeared to enjoy meeting people from cultures so unlike our own that it brought a smile to my face during almost every episode. He’s one of those guys that you would love to got out with, just one night, and see where it leads.
Unfortunately, it is my understanding that he leaves behind a wife and a daughter. If you are ever thinking of taking your life, please tell somebody.
Solo: A Star Wars Story: A Mini-Movie Review
3.5/5 Stars
There are different levels of Star Wars fandom. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being a Star Wars fan who makes a youtube video based off the colors of the light-sabers, I am probably a 7.
So with that said, I really enjoyed Solo. It was not close to Rouge One, but it was a really fun movie and how they developed the relationship between Solo and Chewie was particularly interesting. Donald Glover as Lando was great. Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo wasn’t great, but I would think that part would be close to impossible to play.
I would have given it four stars, but I think a point the movie (oppression of people throughout history) was trying to make at several points throughout the movie was in the end ruined by the droid - L3-37. Subtle is usually more powerful and persuasive. Like the quote as they were heading to a slave planet (paraphrased, probably incorrectly).
Han Solo: “Slave colonies are the worst.”
Lando: “Because that’s where the money is.”
Instead they ruin any persuasiveness by inserting L3-37 as a political mouth piece and nearly ruins the movie. In the past the droids of Star Wars are known to be the most lovable characters in the entire movies. Instead L3-37 in this movie is abrasive and unlovable. In the end are you trying to win the argument or are you actually trying to persuade?
