Ronald Thompkins, 5-11, 195 lb, three-star from Georgia football powerhouse Grayson High School has committed to the Cornhuskers. Grayson High School is the Alma mater of Breon Dixon and Mo Barry.
Thompkins, a hybrid wide receiver and running back, perfectly fit the profile Coach Frost wanted in a “Duck R” player on offense. “Duck R” is basically a do-everything hybrid between running back and wide receiver.
Thompkins was committed to Florida State previously, but backed off that commitment last September. His offer sheet included Alabama, LSU, Penn State, USC, and various other elite programs.
Sean Beckton did some great work here.
Thompkins has great burst and speed to get to the second level quickly. Additionally, he is a physical enough runner to power through that second level and break plays wide open. He adds a measurable increase in speed and versatility to the offense.
