Nebraska County Countdown to Kickoff: Day 93

Let’s take a trip to Hooker County as we start our countdown to football season by examining each of Nebraska’s counties!

Flying Ndamukong Suh Dennis Hubbard

No you are not on O Street. You have arrived in Hooker County on Day 93 of our County Countdown to Kickoff™. We decided to mix it up this year with each day being a profile of a Nebraska county. I see it as your first day of class where everyone stands up and says their name and a couple other “interesting” things about them. We get to be the teacher and the counties the classmates.

Hooker county has a land area of 721 sq miles, 0.3 sq miles of water, and probably zero boats. Originally named after General Joseph Hooker, Hooker county is the least populous county in Nebraska with a suffocating population density of 1 person per sq mile. They also dislike all forms of traffic and really just people in general. The county seat is Mullen, accounting for two thirds of the Hookers in Hooker County. People from Hooker county are called Hookers.

Don’t fact check me. You don’t fact check your classmates when they speak do you?

It’s sunny in Hooker County

Other 93 things:

  • Ndamukong suh wore that number. Remember him? Colt McCoy does.

  • Nebraska went 11-1 in 1993 with the only loss coming against Florida State in the Orange Bowl by a score of 16-18. I think we all know that game pretty well. Less well know but still notable was at UCLA that year where Nebraska barely squeezed out the win 14-13.
  • Current Husker wearing 93 is an upcoming War Daddy in Damion Daniels.

What did I miss? What else would Hooker County say in front of the class?
