Frosted Flakes: Nebrasketball is in a Good Place

Big playmakers will be back for 2018-19

NCAA Basketball: Penn State at Nebraska Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Nebrasketball has seen some very nice developments over the past few days. James Palmer Jr. announced he will be coming back for another season the past Friday and Issac Copeland Jr. stated the same on Sunday.

When they both announced that they would both put themselves on the market for the NBA draft, many of us got scared. Both of these players were key elements to Nebraska’s success this past year. If they got picked then Tim Miles would have to restructure his team for the upcoming season. Not a good situation for anyone in the Big Ten.

Tim Miles and his squad will now return a lineup that lead the Huskers to a 22-11 (13-5 Big Ten) record this past season. Issac Watson & James Palmer Jr. will be back and starting with Isaiah Roby and Glynn Watson Jr. to hopefully take Nebraska to the next level and hopefully an NCAA Tournament berth and win. The latter we all know would be Nebraska’s first.

This could easily be Nebraska’s best lineup in the last decade or more. Not only do they return a starting lineup that could play against most of the Big Ten but also a bench that can back it up. Jordy Tishimagna will be back and should be an even better player in the paint this year. While his development was slow at times he did make his presence known more as the season went on.

I would also expect to see the likes of sophomore Nana Akentn and Thomas Allen on the court more this season. This past year playing against these starters should have them in a position for playing time once the season gets started.

Be excited folks. This is going to be a huge year for Nebrasketball. The conference should be a little bit better than last year. But, Nebraska looks like they will be in a position to take it on and not be left in the dust.

If not, then maybe this is Tim Miles last year at the helm. Though, I doubt that will happen. There is a lot to be excited for this season at Pinnacle Bank Arena. One Memorial & the Devaney Center will not be the only places taking up all the headlines this fall and winter. Expect a lot out of this team.

Anyways, on to flakes...
