Great news from the Cornhusker State!
Ethan Piper, 6-4 280lb three-star two-way multi-sport athlete from Norfolk, NE committed to Nebraska today! Piper had offers from Ohio and Iowa, and even had a visit scheduled to Iowa City, when he received a call from Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander. Piper was offered a scholarship, but felt it necessary to complete the visit to Iowa’s campus to which he had committed. He thought it over and committed to the Cornhuskers as soon as he returned home.
Incidentally, how come Norfolk, NE is pronounced “Nor-fork” and Norfolk, VA is pronounced “Nor-f*ck”?
Piper shows lots of talent as a pass rusher. He uses his hands well to shed blockers, and keeps his legs moving to penetrate backfields quickly. He shows good speed for his size, running down backs and chasing quarterbacks down from the backside often. He also showed good discipline, staying home on running plays instead of overpursuing. With his 6-4 280lb frame, this is a player with a lot of potential. There’s plenty of speed and plenty of want-to. Although I’m a little puzzled by the departure from the All Garrett Recruiting Class strategy, I believe this is a solid addition who will contribute in the future.
