Track & Field: Nick Percy Named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week

The B1G honors one of the top throwers in the nation

It was another award for senior thrower Nick Percy as he was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week. This is his first such honor of the season and fourth such distinction of his collegiate career. He has previously been given the honor back on 4/30/16, 3/29/17, and 4/26/17.

He earned it after setting the top mark in the nation in discuss this past weekend at the Pac 12 vs. Big Ten Invitational. His throw of 205ft 1in won him the event title. While this is the best throw of the season in the nation it is almost three feet from his personal best which stands at 207ft 11in.

Percy also competes in the hammer throw for Nebraska and currently has the best mark in the Big Ten with 215ft 3in. He came in second in this event at the invitational which was held in Tempe, AZ.

We are only three weeks into the outdoor season so expect to see more highest from the senior. He will be throwing this weekend at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Texas with the rest of the Nebraska track and field team.

Nick has has a prolific career while at Nebraska. He Won the Big Ten titles in discus in 2016 and 2017 and the national title in 2016. The exercise science major was originally from Scotland but grew up in Ventnor, England.
