In an interview with HuskerOnline, Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos confirmed that Tim Miles would return as Nebraska’s mens’ basketball coach in 2018.
“I’ve been in conversations with Tim, and he will be with us again next year,” Moos said. “We’re still working out some of the numbers and details.”
Previously, Moos told the Omaha World-Herald that he wasn’t out looking for a new coach in response to rumors that he had contacted Oregon coach Dana Altman. In that article, Moos and Miles said they planned to talk more after the Final Four to discuss recruiting and then turn to details of Miles’ contract.
Miles’ original seven year contract was extended by one season after the 2014-15 season, but hasn’t been touched since, leaving him just two seasons left. That’s raised eyebrows about Miles’ long term status. But Moos seemed to be pleased with the results of both Miles and women’s basketball coach Amy Williams, pointing out each team’s “dramatic turnaround” and “good energy in the fan base.”
