Nebraska’s Luis Alvarado earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors this week for his performance in the second game of the four-game series against Cal Poly. Alvarado threw seven scoreless innings and eight strike outs in the win. He gave up only one walk.
Nebraska lost the first game in the series in horrible fashion, 14-8. They came back to win the series, 3-1, by scores of 4-0, 22-3, and 13-2. Nebraska’s last conference pitcher of the week award was to Jake Hohensee back on April 10th, 2017 as Hohensee and the Huskers beat Maryland 3-1.
