Friday Flakes: Creighton Is Not a Must Win Game

That NCAA tournament game in March is the must win

NCAA Basketball: Nebraska at Clemson Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Ravi Lulla, a a radio host of Bluejay Banter on 1620 the Zone, was a guest on Unsportsmanlike Conduct yesterday afternoon. He is currently running a campaign for the secession of Omaha from Nebraska. He plans on putting a large moat around Omaha in order to separate it from the rest of the state. This is his current 2021 campaign.

Between discussing his plans for secession and his phone cutting out, because of course the guy pushing for a 51st state or a 2nd district has a phone that does not work, he talked about the game tomorrow between Nebraska and Creighton.

At one point Josh Peterson and John Bishop of Unsportsmanlike Conduct discussed whether the game tomorrow is a must win.

I don’t think it is.

The real must win for this basketball program is the first game of the NCAA tournament. Assuming they get there of course. This is the most talented and experienced team Nebraska has had in my memory. Just win that damn game.

Now what about Creighton? I don’t think much of them and not in a demeaning way. I say that as an alum of Creighton as well.

I am a Nebraska fan. So I really do not concern myself about what happens at Creighton. As humans we only have so many mental resources, and Creighton basketball is not one of those things I choose to spend my time on. It isn’t personal. Take it easy.

It is a fun rivalry. Also a win against a program like Creighton would be a great addition to Nebraska’s resume at the end of the season. Even with that said, I am not going to throw a “must win” tag on a non-conference December 8th basketball game.

Now what about Tim Miles? Is it a “must win” game for him?

It probably is if he doesn’t win that NCAA tournament game in March. Beating Creighton might be his final saving grace.

It could save his job.

My Quest To Watch Die Hard

One of the eternal questions it appears we need to answer during this holiday season is not about the birth of Christ, the Jewish holiday Hanukkah or Seinfeld’s Festivus. No those questions apparently are for the less civilized.

The real question is whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie.

Unfortunately, I do not understand the debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie. This is because I have yet to see the classic that I assume is about Bruce Willis being hard to kill.

Somehow, this could be considered a Christmas movie. Hopefully before December 25th, I will have an opportunity to find out.
