Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers have an important message for us!
My God, they have gotten old. The inescapable march of time collects us all. Well, here’s some other news from Houston!
Brant Banks is Nebraska bound! Congrats, @BrantBanks and @HuskerFBNation! #txhsfb https://t.co/KcsW1pXWuN pic.twitter.com/NcEuEXq6uR

Brant Banks, 6-7 275lb three star defensive end from Houston, TX has committed to the Cornhuskers! Banks’ recruitment came down to Baylor and Nebraska vying for his services. Baylor wanted him as an offensive tackle; Nebraska as a defensive end. After official visits to Lincoln Sept 1 and Waco Nov 30, he decided he liked the opportunity better as a defensive end and committed to the Huskers!
I couldn’t find a single Mighty Ducks GIF of Banksy that I liked.
One of the first indicators of a player’s quality is the length of his highlight film. This one is 17 minutes long. Although it highlights both offensive tackle and defensive end plays. Brant comes from a 3-4 defense. I saw athleticism and physicality. He is good at standing up blockers, then shedding them to make tackles in a two-gap scheme. In passing downs had has good ability to penetrate and get upfield and disrupt passes. I saw another lean frame for Coach Duval to mold and sculpt to his liking. Although clearly a #2 behind Ty Robinson, he has definite potential. This is a development project.
Just a quick paragraph of some sunshine and smoke blowing. Remember a couple of coaching staffs ago? This is when the team started getting commitments from players whose only offers were MAC schools. Remember last coaching staff? This is when all the blue-chips chose Ohio State, Oregon and Oklahoma and there was no backup plan. It’s nice to see the current staff close on some star recruits and have contingency plans in place as well.
