We’re back Nebrasketball fans! It only took 57 seconds into the first game for Tim Miles to take off his jacket.
The night started off great, with James Palmer Jr. making the first shot of the game from behind the arc. They then went on to miss three straight open threes after that...but first game will be rusty. Right?
Nebraska started off with those four threes, but then after an Isaiah Roby poster dunk (yeah it already happened this early), the Huskers got moving.
JPJ had a fast break euro and chase down block, Glynn Watson Jr. made two threes, Nana Akenten came in and made a three right away. Something to keep in mind, Tanner Borchard was the first man in, followed by Akenten and THOR.
The rest of the half was utter domination, holding Mississippi Valley State to 13 points, and tying a first half high in points at PBA, 55.
Honestly I really don’t know how to write about the second half. Mississippi Valley State only made three baskets while the starters were still playing. The starters came out at the 10 minute mark...
Towards the end it looked like Nebraska would break the record for scoring margin, 74 points, but only won by 69, with the score 106-37.
Everything went well for the Huskers tonight, but I’ll highlight two areas:
Second, the coming out party for Nana Akenten. Scoring 18 points after going 5-11 from three point range, he looks like someone who will definitely make an impact this year.
The Huskers also covered their -33.5 point spread. So 1-0 in both spread record and overall record. SE Louisiana comes next on Sunday at 4 PM ET. GBR!
