Just a quick note to say....
You might have noticed that I do not like to a whole lot of Nebraska stuff when I do most of these Flakes articles. I figure that all y’all are already reading most of the Nebraska media coverage and that by me linking to it is redundant.
Nebraska does not play sports in a vacuum. They play in an entire universe that includes other schools, teams, administrators and coaching staffs. I believe that whatever happens out there is therefore relevant to Nebraska.
Plus, sometimes it’s interesting and sometimes it’s just dammed funny. Like that fire gif below.
I am open to suggestions as to what you’d like to see.
Jeff Brohm Is Staying At Purdue
I’m glad Brohm is staying at Purdue. The Big Ten West needs to get better and Brohm will help. Say what you want about Purdue’s history, but the Boilers are rising.
Jeff Brohm is Staying at Purdue - Hammer and Rails
Coach Jeff Brohm has turned down Louisville and is staying in West Lafayette per the Lafayette Journal & Courier). For the second straight year Purdue has dodged a bullet of another school coming after our coach and survived. While last year it turned out he was never really close to going to Tennessee, this year it was Louisville: his alma mater.

More Purdue - Rondale Moore Says Nice Things About Adrian Martinez
Many Nebraska fans thought Adrian Martinez deserved the B1G Freshman of the Year award. Rondale Moore won it.

And Moore had kind words for Martinez when asked about the race: pic.twitter.com/K2hoWjMvvX
I really enjoyed watching Moore play this year. He was dynamic. He was explosive and fun. Having said all that, I hope he spends the next three years on the shit end of the stick when he plays us.
The ACC/Big Ten Challenge
B10/ACC Challenge: Purdue ##, FSU ## - Hammer and Rails
Trend Forrest would hit a floater with 5.2 seconds left to take a 73-72 lead over Purdue.
It would be the difference in the game as Purdue would turn over the ball as they tried to advance the ball past half-court to get a final shot off. It’s Purdue’s second loss of the season, both to ranked opponents.

The NFL Is Fun?
Kliff Kingsbury rumors: Why do so many football teams want to hire him? - SBNation.com
The list of NFL and college football teams that wouldn’t like Kliff Kingsbury as offensive coordinator is probably short.
I’ve mentioned on the podcast that I have watched more NFL this season than I have in past years. Much of that is because they are scoring points. Just a few years ago, everyone in the NFL ran the same boring crap offense, but pretended that they were all different and exotic because that’s the bullshit the NFL was selling. I used to turn on a NFL game and fall asleep within three minutes.
Now they’re scoring more! They have taken some cues from college offenses and are more innovative* and risk-taking and I can actually watch without feeling like I’ve swallowed 23 valium.
There are some who are not so innovative. Those are the ones who would look to Klingsbury to hire.
*I am not blind to the fact that they’ve made it nearly impossible to play defense, but let’s be positive about the direction they’re taking.
Stuff
On Tuesday night, Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley confirmed that he has been told that any players flashing the ‘Horns down’ hand gesture this Saturday against the Texas Longhorns will be penalized for doing so.
Texas is still sooooo sensitive.

A thank-you and goodbye from FTRS
Gary Dolphin Suspended Two Games - Black Heart Gold Pants
The play-by-play guy for the Hawks is in some hot water
I am not sure if you heard about this, but Dolphin is the Hawkeyes’ announcer for basketball. Apparently he said a criticism about the Hawks when he thought he was on a commercial break and his mic was off. I didn’t realize they were so sensitive. I sure as hell hope we’re not this sensitive about our programs.
Oh, and I found this gif on the comment thread of this article. I have no idea where it’s from or WHAT HAPPENED NEXT, but I know that you will be watching it over and over for hours.
Then There’s This
Listen up, you sunsabitches. We have a long, long offseason from football ahead of us. I plan to spend a fair amount of that time covering other things, like maybe basketball or some volleyball or non-sports related issues like video games, cyber security (I kid you not) and dirt.
When it comes to football, however, I’d like you to help me make a decision. Go vote in this damned poll. Which role would you like me to play during this offseason?
Discuss!
What type of #Husker fan role should Jon/@CornNation play this off season?
