Thanksgiving marks one of the best days of the year. There is football on all day, no matter if you don’t like the NFL, there are even a couple college football games on that night. Thanksgiving football is one of the best aspects of life. Turkey, mashed potatoes, pie and football make a pretty great day. To get started this week we’ve got some good news; former CB Chris Jones got moved up to the Arizona Cardinals active roster.
Offense
Ameer Abdullah RB - Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings picked up Abdullah after he was released by the Detroit Lions. He number three on the depth chart, but has already gotten more out of the Vikings than he did with the Lions this season. This past Sunday the Vikings played the Chicago Bears and he had one catch for 10 yards, coincidentally he was tackled by Prince Amukamara. The Vikings play the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at 7:25.
Defense
Prince Amukamara CB - Chicago Bears: This past weekend Amukamara had another great game recording eight tackles. The Bears at 7-3 and are on their way to winning the NFC North. It would be great to see Amukamara in a playoff game. The Bears play the Lions on Thanksgiving at 11:30, so everybody make sure to tune in before turkey dinner.
Maliek Collins DT - Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys beat a struggling Atlanta Falcons team to keep them in the race for the NFC East. Speaking of the NFC East, the Cowboys play the Redskins on Thanksgiving at 3:30 in a huge game to help decide who wins that division. Collins had two tackles on Sunday, so hopefully he can continue that as he’s going against the Redskins who will be starting Colt McCoy. Yes, you heard that right. He’s still around and he’s only starting because of Alex Smith’s injury that looked very similar to Joe Theismann’s.
Randy Gregory DE - Dallas Cowboys: For the second week in a row Gregory recorded one sack. This time it was against the Atlanta Falcons. Seeing Collins and Gregory on the same DL is entertaining to say the least. The Cowboys play the Redskins on Thanksgiving at 3:30, and hopefully he can destroy McCoy like Ndamukong Suh did in 2009.
Nate Gerry LB - Philadelphia Eagles: I’m not sure why Gerry hasn’t played since week one, but he got his first action on Sunday recording one tackle. The Eagles play the Giants on Sunday at noon.
Ndamukong Suh DT - Los Angeles Rams: This part is hard for me to write. Suh recorded one tackle against the Chiefs. The Rams beat the Chiefs to improve to 10-1, and the Chiefs fell to 9-2. This was a game of the ages, if you didn’t watch this game on Monday you did something wrong. The Rams are on a bye this week, but play the Lions on Sunday, December 2 at noon.
Special Teams
Andy Janovich FB - Denver Broncos: In the Broncos game against the Chargers Janovich caught a pass for 12 yards. This wasn’t a normal pass though, this was on a fake punt to set up a touchdown run on the next play. I usually don’t root for the Broncos, but with the Chargers on the Chiefs’ heels it was nice to see them win this game. The Broncos play the Steelers on Sunday at 3:25.
Sam Koch P - Baltimore Ravens: In the Ravens game against the Bengals Koch had four punts for 157 yards. On Sunday the Ravens play the Oakland Raiders at noon.
Brett Maher K - Dallas Cowboys: Maher once again won the game for the Cowboys. Maybe they should sign him again in the offseason and pay him. This week his long was a 50-yarder, and he didn't miss a single field goal attempt this week. He did however miss one extra point. The Cowboys play on Thanksgiving at 3:30 against the Redskins.
