Nebrasketball: Huskers Pull Away from Scrappy Missouri State

NCAA Basketball: Hall of Fame Classic-Missouri State at Nebraska Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Bears played hard but it was the Huskers who ended the night with a 85-62 in Kansas City on Monday night.

The game was hot and cold early on for Nebraska. There would be times where they would be up by ten and then turnaround and have Missouri State pull up to within two. This went back and fourth until the end of the first. The second half is where the Huskers pulled it together for the 23 point win in the Sprint Center

The Huskers were lead by Issac Copeland Jr. who had 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists on the night. He was followed by Glynn Watson Jr. who had a stellar game with 16 points, 2 rebounds, and four assists. It was these two seniors who kept the game alive early on for the Big Red.

Preseason All Big Ten Glynn Watson Jr. was shut down early on in the game by the Bears. He ended the night with only 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Quite a bit lower than his 21 points a game season average this year. Missouri State targeted on him early and the stats proved it. They also allowed him to have five turnovers.

Nebraska will play again in Kansas City on Tuesday night. They will play either USC or Texas Tech in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Classic. Tipoff is at 8:30pm.
