Two of our favorite beloved Huskers have earned awards this week!

Running back Devine Ozigbo was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while true freshman quarterback Adrian Martinez was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, after having garnered the same award last week.

This is Nebraska’s first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award since Tommy Armstrong won it in 2016. That’s way too long a time. Wow.

Ozigbo ran over Illinois defense to the tune of 162 yards and three touchdowns. He had only 11 carries for a 14.7 yard per carry average. He had two of the longest runs in his career, bursting for 66 and 60-yard touchdowns, and he had three receptions for 36 yards for 198 all-purpose yards.

Ziggy is tied with Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin in leading the Big Ten in rushing touchdowns scored with 12.

Martinez, who still really doesn’t have a good nickname, had 345 yards of offense against the Fighting Illini. He went 24-for-34 in passing for 290 yards and three touchdowns. He tied a school record (ALREADY!) with his sixth 300-yard total offense game in a season. He ran for another 55 yards and a touchdown.
