Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez was named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week. He shared the honor with Purdue’s Rondale Moore.
Moore was a big part of the Boilermaker’s big upset of Ohio State, having 252 all-purpose yards. He had 12 receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns, returned three kicks for 49 yards, two rushes for 24, and a punt return for nine yards. That’s quite an all-around performance.
Our guy Adrian, however, went 25-for-29 passing for 276 yards and three touchdowns. He rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown, bringing his total output to 401 yards. He set a record for best completion percentage in a game with a minimum of 20 attempts; the previous record was by Dave Humm and it stood for 44 years!!!!
Martinez has already tied the Nebraska career record for 400-yard games, and he’s just getting started.
You might be tempted to say that Minnesota’s defense wasn’t up to the task, but Nebraska’s offense has put up some wild numbers, they just haven’t come up with the wins. They played a fairly clean game, against the Gophers and Martinez was a huge part of that. The future is exciting!
Martinez was also recognized by these guys. Check out the twitter thread of complaining.
