We have a lot in your Monday news dump from One Memorial. As always, the quotes are typed out in real time. I don’t go back and re-listen to be sure I got them exact.
Bethune Cookman kickoff and TV information was announced. On October 27, kickoff between the Huskers and BCU will be at 11:00 am and televised on BTN.
Scott Frost Monday Press Conference
I was so impressed with how they came back today. It wasn’t just our best Monday, It was our best overall practice of the year. The one concern I have is I don’t want the guys to get used to losing and be OK with it. I know the vast majority of our team isn’t.
Frost says, "We left a lot on table." Runs through a long list of guys playing well.

"We came up one play short."
We preach to play with a desire to excel and no fear of failure...If you expect to win, count on winning, you’re gonna find a way to win.
Scott Frost says he wishes people could see inside the walls and see the culture changing. #huskers #gbr #nebraska

On the Big Ten
You need to be at your best week in and week out when you play a nine game schedule in this league...I’ve been impressed with the depth in this league
Frost goes big picture: Says Nebraska was one play away from changing the current conversation dramatically toward the positive.

It just hasn’t happened, but it will...
Frost says he has yet to come across Nebraska fans who have said anything negative to him.

"I can't tell you how appreciative I am of those people that are behind us." Adds that he hopes people see the progress, and things will continue to improve.
On Flynn Nagel
We had him doubled a lot...I don’t think it was what we were in on defense, we just have to play it better...pressing when you’re not supposed to press...having the wrong leverage...
Frost said he wouldn't change how NU D defended Flynn Nagel: "He beat us. Northwestern beat us, but he had a lot to do with it." #huskers

Frost said he's on the defensive headset some during games, but most of the time when the D is on the field he's talking to the offense about what they need next series. "That's the way we've done it. It's worked. It will work again."

On what the defense needs
We need guys to be better pass rushers, we need to be crisper on blitzes, some little things technique-wise...some guys played 80+ snaps and were a little tired...we’re not breaking on enough balls in zone coverage...but you have to be in the right place with the right technique...
Frost: "There's no doubt watching the last three weeks how much better we've gotten ... It breaks my heart for these guys that it hasn't led to a slash in the win column yet." #Huskers

On preserving a redshirt for Noah Vedral
We’re not going to burn a year with him if we can help it...we’re not...
Frost says he wishes they could have gotten the Vedral ruling early. They're not going to burn his redshirt but they're going to try to get him some snaps this year.
— Derek Peterson (@DrPeteyHV) October 15, 2018
Said the NCAA isn't at fault for why the ruling took so long and he doesn't want to comment further. #Huskers
On the false start in overtime
We can’t make mistakes like that
Frost says on the overtime false start, the ball *was* supposed to be snapped, but it wasn't, and Martinez told Frost music was still playing during snap. Farmer didn't hear Martinez. Frost said center needs to be more locked in and quarterback needs to be louder. #Huskers

On depth
There are a couple of positions we’re getting pretty thin...inside linebacker...outside we’re pretty healthy. If someone has four games to play, we’re going to get them in.
On defensive breakdowns
200 hundred of their yards were...I’m spitballing here...on like eight plays...we weren’t lined up right...
On CJ Smith
"I don't think it looks real good for CJ," Frost says of true frosh DB CJ Smith, who was carted off the field with a leg injury Saturday at Northwestern.

On Lamar Jackson
I think Lamar is one of the guys that has made signficiant improvement, he’s doing things the right way now, he’s been a great teammate, he has the talent to be a really good player
