Nebrasketball stayed competitive for most of the game on the road against #13 Purdue, but couldn’t find an answer for their two seven-foot-plus giant guys as the Boilermakers outpaced the Huskers 74-62.
7-2 Isaac Haas scored 14 while 7-3 Matt Haarms added another eight, with both getting nine rebounds, and four of the team’s six blocks. Vincent Edwards led the Boilermakers in scoring with 21, while grabbing 10 rebounds.
It wasn’t all bad for the Huskers. Purdue jumped out to a 10-2 lead within three minutes of the start, and a 15-point lead early, and it looked like the game might become an embarrassing blowout.
Nebraska battled back, coming within seven in the first half, but behind at half 41-31 as Purdue’s Dakota Mathias hit a three just before the break.
At the second of the second period neither team could hit a shot. Both teams were cold, and Nebraska couldn’t capitalize on Purdue’s crusty coldness. The closest the Huskers could get was within nine.
Nebraska was lead by James Palmer with 22, while Isaac Copeland added another 16. Glynn Watson was 2-for-10 shooting, so an off game for him.
This happened, though! Isaac Copeland jams on a 7 footer.
And then Copeland got rewarded with a technical for apparently looking too hard at the Purdue giant.
Still, COPELAND DUNKED ON A 7 FOOTER!

Despite them having two giant guys, Nebraska kept scoring inside. I didn’t count the dunks, but Nebraska had more than Copeland’s jam.
It was Purdue’s 11th consecutive win as they move to 15-2 overall and 4-0 in the Big Ten. The loss drops Nebraska to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten.
Nebraska returns to Lincoln to host Wisconsin at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. After that, they head on the road to face Penn State, and then back home against Illinois.
