The return of a football game to Memorial Stadium for the Nebraska Cornhuskers also means visiting recruits taking in their official visit for the Huskers.
The Huskers are focusing their big numbers for two home games this year in Wisconsin and Ohio State. Even with those games seemingly being the big focal points, there is some good talent heading to Lincoln this weekend as the Northern Illinois Huskies are the opponents.
As always, this is a fluid, live list. Names can be added and taken away as plans develop.
Four-star ATH Bryan Addison: The California athlete will be taking his first OV of his process to Lincoln. Addison wants to play defensive back, but with his height (6’5), could very well work out as a wideout if he really wanted to.
Three-star WR Kobe Smith: Addison’s teammate will be joining him on this weekend’s jaunt. Word on the street is that Keith Williams really digs Smith, and there’s interest back and forth on this one.
While I wouldn’t think that either Addison or Smith would verbal this weekend, the watch is for how both trend to Nebraska after the visit. With the early kickoff, there’s going to be a lot of chances for both to talk to the staff on how both sides of the ball will operate vs. the Huskies.
Three-star WDE David Alston: The defensive end out of Minnesota will be in town for his OV, which is his first one. While Alston sports a lot of offers, there’s not a lot of P5 schools on that list.
As you can see on the Hudl video, the 6’5 frame that Alston currently has is the biggest appeal. This is someone that fits the whole CAT linebacker mold for Bob Diaco, a guy who is tall and has decent athleticism. A few Crystal Ball picks for Alston came in before the weekend for Nebraska, and it’s not out of the process that things pick up for the Huskers even more after the weekend.
Chances for a verbal this weekend: It’s not out of the question for Alston, who could be enjoying his view in this defense. Addison and Smith, I wouldn’t think that it’s a probability. All three players should trend for Nebraska in some way after this weekend though. Alston is your best bet, but don’t wait up for one all weekend.
