Corn Flakes: Get Your Tailgate Menus Planned

New, 13 comments

Now is the time to stock the pantry for football tailgates and cookouts. We also celebrate the return of Husker sports with the first soccer match this Friday.

When it rains, it pours. Literally.

The ranch was moving deeper into the levels on the Drought Monitor as we had very little rain in June or July. The past 48 hours have brought somewhere around 7-8”, flooded roads, and flood warnings.

We went from trying to figure out how deep some of the cracks in the ground were to wondering if we needed an ark.

We are pretty grateful for the moisture and have no damage (unlike a few other places in Nebraska that had flash floods and excessive rains that flooded city streets and buildings).

I sent the oldest son off to school earlier this week for his first day as a high school senior. I can’t possibly be that old, so I’m not sure how we got here. I’ve only got a few months before I give him to the world. This is harder than when he went to kindergarten.

Football is almost here! What is on your tailgate menu? We already know about Jon’s love of gravy, but I’m more about the brats and smoked meats. Mmmm. Your favorites?

We have real Husker sports happening.

The volleyball scrimmage is this Saturday, August 19 at 7 pm with live audio on huskers.com. This team lost a lot of important pieces but has a lot of talent returning. Based on where the Big Ten coaches ranked the Huskers to finish in the conference, Coach Cook’s peers believe he is reloading and not rebuilding.

It’s possible you’ve never heard of Brian Kmitta, even though he’s been with the Nebraska athletic program since 2009.

I really hope Tanner Lee is pretty good and not just for the Huskers’ sake. The hype starting to build around the kid will be suffocating if he falters.

We all know about the sacred Husker football sellout streak. But what other teams are leading the way in consecutive sellouts?
