Another day, another watch list with a Nebraska Cornhuskers player on it.

The Outland Trophy folks came out with their watch list today, and Nebraska’a Nick Gates was on it.

Gates, the junior out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, has been at tackle the past two years. He helped an OL that allowed only 15 sacks all season with the help of Tommy Armstrong.

Gates started every game last season, plus 10 games in 2015. He has been a stalwart at left tackle, although in his last game he did struggle at times vs. Tennessee’s Derek Barnett, who was taken 14th in the NFL Draft this past April.

Gates is one of 81 players on the Outland Trophy watch list. The award was won by Alabama’s Cam Robinson last season, marking the best interior lineman in all of College Football. Nebraska last won the award with Ndamukong Suh in 2009.
