There are now 80 days until the start of the 2017 Nebraska football season!
1980 was my first year in college in Nebraska. As a true freshman experiencing my first year of Husker football I did the stupidest thing possible. I signed up for a Chemistry 109 lab on Saturday mornings. What a moron. Not only that, I was a lousy chemistry student. I remember the morning of the Oklahoma game that year that our student assistant was getting frustrated with me because I took so long in doing titrations that he said, "We gotta get outta here. We're gonna miss the beginning of the Oklahoma game. Let me do these titrations for you, you just write down what I tell you."
We didn't miss the game.
I passed Chem 109 and never took another chemistry course again.
I remember when we lost to Florida State that everybody was shocked because Florida State at that time was a pretty lousy program. You could tell Bobby Bowden was going to build them into a monster.
Here you can watch the entirety of the Oklahoma game that year. It was another disappointment at the hands of Barry Switzer. I encourage you to at least watch until Jarvis Redwine scores on an 89 yard touchdown run and notice all of the oranges flying onto the field being thrown by Nebraska fans. Can you even imagine a point in time in which people were allowed to throw things on the field?
Those were the days!
