After a week with no midweek games, Nebraska heads back out to the diamond to open up a seven game stretch of games in the state of Nebraska. Nebraska and Rutgers kick off Military Appreciation Weekend with a Friday night contest set to start at 6:35 with the game being broadcast on NET
Jake Hohensee gets the ball after throwing three innings of no hit ball last week, while Gaby Rosa gets the ball for the Scarlet Knights after limiting the Michigan offense to just 4 runs last time out.
Rosa was in the series last year at Rutgers, but he played all three games as the shortstop. Rosa started the year at short and then moved to the mound in the later part of the season. Rosa, is a lot like the Ohio State pitching staff Nebraska saw last weekend, liking to work to contact and put the ball in play. He has given up 43 hits in 39.1 innings pitched while walking 13 and striking out 21.
Putting the ball in play should be the Huskers goal. Rutgers is porous defensively, as they field a league low .951. The left side of the infield between Christian Campbell and Kevin Welsh have combined for 28 errors.
The good news for Rutgers is they can swing the bats. Mike Carter leads the league with a .386 batting average, while Jawuan Harris has a team high 23 stolen bases to go along with 16 extra base hits.
