Per this report by FanRag’s Jon Rothstein, the 2017 Gavitt Games have been set. The Nebraska basketball team will be traveling to New York earlier than expected to take on the St. John Red Storm on November 16th.
The Red Storm, coached by famous alumnus and Dream Team member Chris Mullin, were 14-19 overall last year, with a 7-11 record in the Big East Conference.
The Huskers have played once in the Gavitt Games two years ago. Back on Nov. 17, 2015, the Huskers lost to eventual national champion Villanova 87-63 in Philadelphia.
Because of the game being in Big East territory, they would assume the TV rights to the game. That would presumably put the game in Fox Sports 1 territory, but it’s unknown until the official announcement. It’s also unknown as where the game would be played, as St. John’s played home games in two arena’s last year. The Storm played 9 games at Carnesecca Arena in Queens, but also played six home games at Madison Square Garden. That is where Nebraska will play in the Big Ten Tournament at the end of the season.
