The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team announced two incoming players on Tuesday morning, and both are expected to help out immediately for Nebrasketball.
First off, the Huskers announced that a prominent top-100 recruit from the nation’s best high school had committed to play for Nebraska.

As a senior, Allen averaged 18 ppg on 55% shooting, including going 48% from beyond the arc. Finishing his career at the Brewster Academy, Allen was one of five Bobcats players this year to sign to play for Power-5 teams. He did have a 50-point outing, including eleven three’s earlier this year.
Miles says that Allen is an “elite-level shooter...and an elite-level winner.” He goes on to say that he loves Allen’s “attitude, composure and his ability to help his teammates rise to the occasion.”
Secondly, the Huskers announced the signing of graduate transfer Duby Okeke, who will have one season to play. Okeke is a 6’8” center, originally from Jonesboro, Georgia. Okeke will graduate later this semester from Winthrop and come to Lincoln afterwards.

Okeke averaged between 13-17 minutes a game for Winthrop, who won the Big South and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Butler.
If you’re looking for offense from Okeke, you’re not going to find much. While shooting almost 70% on the season, he averaged 2.2 shot attempts during the whole ‘16-’17 season, never scoring more than 9 points a game. Okeke’s value will be down low, as he was the 6th-best shot blocker in Division 1 last year, averaging 1.4 blocks a game. He was even more efficent in ‘15-’16, averaging 2.5 blocks a game. ‘
Tim Miles on Okeke:
“We are excited to have Duby join Nebraska Basketball,” Miles said. “He has been well coached at Winthrop under Pat Kelsey, so he understands being part of a winning program and NCAA Tournament team. I love Duby’s attitude and his desire to take his game to a higher level. His ability to block shots and rebound are skills that are transferrable to almost any level of play. Duby is the right guy at the right time for the Huskers and understands where we want go and is excited to help us get there.”
Look for Duby to be the grunt worker that Nebraska lost with Ed Morrow leaving town.
