The Huskers leave the land of 10,000 lakes with a 15 point loss to the Golden Gophers

The season is about over.

That’s about all I can think of after this loss. Nebraska started out strong and kept up with Minnesota for about 13 minutes but the Gophers were too disciplined at both ends of the court for Nebraska to make much of a game of this. Minnesota played with fire for most of the night as they gave the Huskers their third loss in a row and their seventeenth of the year.

To give Minnesota credit, they did come out ready to play and they rarely let up on the gas pedal. Minus a few dry spells in shooting they played as well as any team would want to at the end of a season. They were 55% from the floor on the night while the Huskers shot a measly 37%. That stat alone will tell you how well the game went for the Big Red.

However, Nebraska did go toe to toe in rebounds with Minnesota having 16 a piece. The Huskers also out rebounded the Gophers 43 to 38 to give somewhat of fight while in the paint. It’s not as if Nebraska ever gave up during the game. It’s rare for Miles teams to do so. However, as we have seen in recent weeks, they really did not give themselves much else during the game. The lack of offensive firepower is something this team is just struggling to get over.

The Huskers were lead by sophomore Glynn Watson Jr. who started out slow but ended the night with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was followed by senior Tai Webster who had 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Ed Morrow came off the bench and kept up with his game by game improvement since coming back. The sophomore forward had 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Nebraska comes back to Lincoln this Sunday to take on the Michigan Wolverines. This will be the last game of the regular season. The conference tournament will start on Wednesday and it looks like the Huskers will start play on that day. The will most likely not get a bye this year to start the tournament.
