For the sixth time this Spring season, the Nebraska Football team worked out in or near the Hawks Championship Center on Thursday.
The workout was the last one before the school’s Spring Break, and players will be off all next week due to no classes being in session.
Mike Riley spoke to the media after today’s workout & was asked about the Running Back race.
Mike Riley said there indeed is some separation among the #huskers running backs but he's not ready to announce. Wants competition.

Most folks, myself included, think that Sophomore Tre Bryant is quickly becoming RB1, with Devine Ozigbo & Mikale Wilbon in the pecking order behind him.
As stated on Tuesday by his tweet, Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is getting at it finally.
Keshawn Johnson Jr. (appendectomy) has been cleared and participated today. Was in shorts only; will be in full pads beginning March 30.

Johnson cannot be in pads until his 3rd workout, per NCAA rules.
If you are looking at some interesting things on the Defensive side of the ball, here you go.
On Joshua Kalu at safety, Riley said, "we’re looking at where he might best fit and where we might find the best strength. It’s a look-see."

Lamar Jackson also practiced at corner Thursday, which factored into Kalu at safety, Riley said. #Huskers

Huskers gave senior Joshua Kalu a look-see at safety today. Working next to Aaron Williams with Chris Jones and Lamar Jackson as corners.

I have wondered if Jackson would eventually overtake Kalu at that boundary corner spot, but I dont think many would have bet that Kalu would be the one moving positions. Jackson, matter of factly, seemed more open moving to Safety before.
Quarterback race notes today? Here it is, summed up in one tweet:
Post practice notes:

QBs had a rough day today. Saw more poor throws today than I've seen the past few practices combined. #Huskers
Riley: "It was not the same as it has been for the QBs. The windows are tighter. The next time we do the red zone it will all be better."
— Brian Rosenthal (@GBRosenthal) March 16, 2017
There will be bad days, so take it all with a grain of salt. But, this would make me feel better:
Defensive backs in particular were impressive today. So was Mick Stoltenberg. #Huskers
— Christopher Heady (@heady_chris) March 16, 2017
INTS came in red zone work. "Today was probably a good eye-opener for them," Riley said of quarterbacks O'Brien and Lee. #Huskers

That Stoltenberg news should make you smile. It could be total lip service, but it would not shock me to see him be NG1 at the Spring game.
Nebraska returns to the practice fields on March 28th, which will mark the halfway point to the Red/White Scrimmage on Saturday, April 15th.
