Four players in double figures in the Nebrasketball home victory

NCAA Basketball: Penn State at Nebraska Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Nebraska was able to overwhelm Penn State on Tuesday night and get a much needed victory. The Huskers shot 48% from the field and had one of their best games of the season. This is the biggest margin of victory since Nebraska beat South Dakota on December 22nd. Nebraska and Penn State has always been a close game since the Huskers joined the Big Ten. Nobody really saw this blowout coming. This game was huge for Nebraska. There are five games left in the regular season, three on the road and two at home. If the Huskers could win at least two of those, they can maybe stay out of that Wednesday game in the B1G Tournament. That would be huge.

The Good

Nebraska shot the ball so well in this game. The Huskers scored 45 points in the first half and shot 63%. That was arguably the best half of basketball for Nebraska. And it wasn’t really one player, a lot of players stepped up in this game. Glynn Watson and Jack McVeigh led the way with 15 points a piece including McVeigh’s sweet half-court shot to end the first half. Tai Webster and Jordy Tshimanga had 12 points of their own. Jordy had a great night inside getting rebounds as well. Evan Taylor even scored 8 points in this game. When this team can share the scoring then they can be pretty good and can compete with just about anyone.

The Bad

There wasn’t much bad in this game for the Huskers. The one thing that sticks out the most is that Isaiah Roby rolled his ankle with about 3 minutes left in the game. He wasn't able to put any weight on it and went straight to the locker room to ice it. Tim Miles wasn’t sure about his status for the Ohio State game on Saturday so we will have to wait and see this week.

What Is Next?

Nebraska looks to get some revenge on Ohio State in Columbus. After that tough one point loss in Lincoln a few weeks ago, the Huskers will be fired up in this game. Ohio State lost to Michigan State at the Breslin Center on Tuesday night as well. Winning in Columbus isn’t always easy so it should be a good road test for the Huskers. Tip-off for that one is at 5:00PM on Saturday night and can be seen on BTN.
