Nebraska Football: Linebacker Andrew Ward Is Officially A Cornhusker

The Christmas Day verbal of the Michigan LB will help down the road in Lincoln.

David McGee

In a position of luxury for Nebraska this year, they could be a little choosy when it comes to linebacker. Andrew Ward is the ideal “project” for Trent Bray to work with. Ward has sent his signed letter of intent into Lincoln and will be a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers next fall.

Ward comes to Lincoln from Muskegon High School in Muskegon, Michigan. He is the 38th-best linebacker in the state of Michigan, and the 21st best player in the state of Michigan. Those rankings are according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Besides Nebraska, Ward had offers from Arizona, Penn State, Iowa State and Indiana.

Expectation: As mentioned above, linebacker wasn’t a big need for Nebraska coming into the cycle, so you could pick guys that either contribute right away (Avery Roberts) or you can redshirt and get right with what you want. Ward is a good redshirt candidate, where he can get a little bigger and find his spot at LB.
