It took all game but the Huskers pull off the win

NCAA Basketball: Nebraska at Creighton Steven Branscombe-USA TODAY Sports

The University of Texas - San Antonio came into this game with a good offense and it showed on this cold December night. It took most of the game but Nebraska did pull off the win 104-94. The first time in 12 years that the big red had a triple digit game.

Yes, it’s been over a decade since this team has scored over one hundred points in a game.

UTSA came out calm, cool, and relaxed and went toe to toe early on against the Huskers and did not let up until the very end. While Nebraska kept the lead through most of the game the Road Runners kept their high scoring offense with the foot on the gas and fought the Huskers for the lead throughout the final 13 minutes. It was only in the final four minutes of the night when Nebraska took control and pulled away with the 10 point win.

Nebraska struggled a bit against the high scoring UTSA offense throughout the night but was able to clamp down in the end for the finish.

Free throws, did free throws make up this game. However, with two different outcomes from each team. The Huskers ended the night going 37 for 50 and the Road Runners with 9 of 10. A huge discrepancy which had a major impact on the outcome.

The Huskers did see a nice offensive performance going 50.9% from the floor. Something that has helped the team when the defense has taken awhile to develop this year.

Nebraska was lead in this game by James Palmer Jr. who had 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. A big game shooting 45% from the floor and helped clinch this much needed win.

Evan Taylor also had a nice night against the Road Runners with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. His first double digit game since the Boston College win on November 29th.

Anton Gill was the hero off the bench. The senior guard had 21 points and 4 rebounds. A big game for the senior who has struggled to find the basket for a majority of the year.

The Huskers stay at home for their next game against Delaware State on Friday, December 22nd at 7pm.
