VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: NEBRASKA VS. FLORIDA

Nebraska takes on Florida for the National Championship tonight at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. The teams met in August in Gainesville, a match Florida won in five. That match was the second career match for Lauren Stivrins and Jazz Sweet and was played without Senior All-American Setter Kelly Hunter.

Florida has only lost once this year, to Kentucky in SEC play. Nebraska has lost four, two without Hunter against Florida and Oregon, then to Northern Iowa, and finally to Wisconsin in B1G play.

If Florida wins, it will be the first time they’ve won the national title, and the first time a female head coach has won an NCAA Division I title. If Nebraska wins, it will be the program’s fifth, Coach John Cook’s fourth and the second in three years for the Big Red. It would move them into third place alone for total championships trailing Stanford and Penn State, the semi-final losers who have seven each.

Coverage starts on ESPN2 at 8:00 CST.
